Why Do Students Want to Go to Suny Geneseo?

Why Do Students Want to Go to Suny Geneseo? The school of Eduardo Saverin, the founder of Suny Geneseo, the most famous and prestigious school in the country, is not one of the more popular schools in New York City. Its curriculum, its attendance rate, and the overall student body don't even compare to the prestige of the Ivy League schools. The reason for this may be difficult to fathom, but then, neither does most of the students. While these two facts seem contradictory, these are actually two of the most important reasons why these schools have become such an attraction to those that are interested in getting ahead academically. Their extremely high standards and the sense of pride that most of their students feel after reaching a certain milestone, they are quick to award grades to students with an 85% or better for each and every test they take. They hold regular finals so that students can study and prepare for the future. One of the most important fact to know about the schools, however, is that their course offerings for this year are so extensive that they cater to a variety of interests as well. This is very good for students who enjoy the arts, and science, or who are interested in being a part of the performance art scene in New York City. Furthermore, many of the current students from this school are seniors, which explains why so many of them graduate each year.In other words, if you are interested in learning the craft of dancing, the history of African-American dance, or any other interesting subject for that matter, then you should consider enrolling in the school. That's because the atmosphere there is an eclectic mix of personalities that almost all of the students are able to blend together in a manner that can't be said for many other schools.Another reason why a lot of people want to attend the Suny Geneseo tutoring program is that they are able to learn with those that they actually admire. If you are really a visual person, then you will w ant to attend the acting classes, while those who love music will be interested in participating in band practice. Everyone will enjoy getting involved in what they're passionate about, whether it's theater writing, or poetry. As for those who are more interested in history, then it's important to realize that the school will offer classes on topics such as how to become a human sacrifice, the role of slaves in history, and so on. It may be a bit hard to understand how some of these historical details come to life, but it's good to have a good understanding of how the world really came to be. You'll definitely get a unique and engaging education, and there's no better way to get the value you want out of an education than through an education that was instilled by an individual who has made a name for himself through teaching. These schools have a very rich and diverse background, which can be felt through their varied teaching methods, and can be seen through the different ways they promote themselves. Suny Geneseo is one of the many in the city and is one of the top schools in the country, and it's something that all of the students aspire to get to. There are plenty of great programs to choose from, and it's up to the student to figure out what their interests are and what they hope to accomplish in the future.

Beer Review - Newcastle Brown Ale

Beer Review - Newcastle Brown Ale Screenshot I took of my latest UNTAPPD entry Newcastle at the Hard Rock So last week I went with my friend and her family to a comedy show at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel Casinos Improv Club. The headliner was Ryan Stout (heres  Ryans Youtube page), a perpetually sarcastic comedian who repeatedly assured us that he was famous by blurting Im famous in between lines. Needless to say, I found him hilarious and smart, oftentimes pointing out the hypocrisy of the audience when we found one thing offensive but not another. It was great, and only made greater with Newcastles. When we sat down at the closest table to the stage, my friends mom let me know drinks were on her and that there was also a two drink minimum for the show. Well, damn. Im in. The waiter ran through the boring usuals Bud, Bud Light, Corona Light, Coors Light,  Heinekenand then he reached Newcastle and I was a happy camper. I said bring my two upfront so as not to have incessant reminders from him through the show and my decision was a good one. Newcastle is a brown ale and therefore it has a richer, heavier body than a lot of other brews. It is from Newcastle, England and probably one of my favorite go-to beers because it is relatively common in most bars and wont set you back too much. Im a brown and red ale kind of guy, the same kind of guy whod rather drink a glass of tap water than a Corona (Corona is terribleyes even with a lime and yes even in the summer). I rated Newcastle a 4/5 that night on UNTAPPED and I dont regret it. Although it is my favorite safe call, I know there are many fish in the sea (beers in the pub?) and I shouldnt set a ceiling just yet. Similar brews that I would recommend are ones that have brown ale and even amber or copper in their title because they lend themselves to similar taste profiles. That identification method hasnt steered me wrong yet. These types of beers are not restricted by seasons and taste just fine in most settings, but Id strongly recommend a Newcastle when out in a sit down e nvironment, perhaps enjoying a burger or steak. At 4.7% alcohol-by-volume, it wont floor you to have three or so in one sitting. Most liquor stores shelf Newcastle bottled in 6-packs, but my recommendation for a Newcastle first-timer (or any new beer for that matter) is to take a trip to your local bar with some buddies and get it from the tap.

The 6 Best Sources of Language Learning Videos on the Internet

The 6 Best Sources of Language Learning Videos on the Internet The 6 Best Sources of Language Learning Videos on the Internet Do you want to take learning a second  language to the next level?Do you really want to immerse yourself, really?I just wanna make sure because there are many people out there who say they’d love to get that second  language in the bag, but then never do something about it.They always put it off for some other time, instead of getting in daily  practice. And the tragedy is, the thing that they have to do isn’t really that difficult. It’s really not. It’s as easy as watching a video.Seriously.If you’re gonna be speeding up the process of language acquisition, one of the things that you absolutely have to do is to watch clips, movies, telenovelas, series, newscasts, etc. And you  should  do that a lot. Now, I know watching videos has  been vilified by the pundits of the past saying, “TV is Evil” or “YouTube will obliterate culture.” You know that hasn’t happened. In fact, academics have changed their minds about videos, warming up to the possibility that it actually i s the future of education. In this post, we’re gonna pay homage to motion pictures by giving you best sources of language learning videos on the internet. Before we do that, let’s talk about some of the reasons why videos are so effective as a language learning tool. Why Videos Work in Language Learning: The 3 M’sVideos Make the Students MotivatedIf there’s any doubt as to the motivating effect of videos on people, one only has to look at how students are responding to the games presented in video formâ€"or the so-called video games. The positive effect of games on learning is well-documented. But having those games in video form seems to take it to  a whole new level where students actually get addicted to learning and make peanuts out of the lessons.Videos have this effect of exciting and engaging the students in any activity. We all heard of kids who forget to eat or sleep because they’re so mesmerized by some video game, right?Today, videos are being used in language c ourses to maximize motivation and minimize anxiety in learners. We will look at some of these sites later on in greater detail, and you pick whichever  looks most interesting to you.Videos Make the Lessons MemorableVideos are moving to the forefront of education. They have been found to have positive effects  on the medium and long term memory.Videos generate visual stimulants that wake up the brain cells and demand focused attention. How many teachers or audio courses actually get focused attention from their students? A video requires  that you look at it. It demands that you listen and take stock. Because of these characteristics, videos improve learning outcomes. But hold your horses just yet. There are probably billions of videos in existence, and not all of them are created equal. They have varying degrees of educational impact.Content matters. A boring video, well, is boring. There’s really no way around that. How the video integrates the different technologies available also matters. For example, captioned videos are significantly more effective in teaching language than uncaptioned ones. Later we’ll learn about how websites make their videos more interesting than the rest of the competition.Videos Make the Culture MeaningfulCulture can never be divorced from the language that gives it expression.Videos provide visual context for the lessons, allowing students to see not only what the teacher or native speakers actually look like, but also their facial expressions, animated gestures and even their fashion sense. All of the little visual cues add up to give the student a bigger picture of what the  culture is like. You dont  have this element with non-visual  podcasts or audiobooks.Only video really gives this type  of peek into the culture of the language you are learning. And that’s why, if you’re gonna be acquiring your target language  soon, you better open your eyes and your mind to the profound and subtle lessons of one simple, unassuming, vid eo.Ok. Time to get to  those sites that use  videos in their language learning programs. The 6 Best Sources of Language Learning Videos on the InternetOpen CultureOpen Culture is, quite possibly, the motherload of everything free on the internetâ€"that is, everything a modern thinker and lifelong learner would ever need. You want a documentary on a country and its history? No problem. You can even supercharge YouTube and make it fit your language-learning lifestyle. Here are some things you can do with it:Scroll to  the bottom of the YouTube page and change the dropdown menus of Language and Country. Doing this will change the sites interface into the language of your choice.Instead of being sent emails in English, change them to  your target language. Go to your Account Settings and then to Email and tell YouTube to send you messages  in  the language of your choice.  Make sure youre making the most out of every video by turning on the subtitles whenever theyre available. Always be on the lookout for the CC symbol, then go to the Settings button found immediately below the video screen and pick the language from the available subtitles. For those wanting practice in their language of choice, why not type in  the target language in the search bar? As always, be courteous to everybody. Before long, you wont even notice that youre not browsing, reading and writing in English. Hows that for immersion, huh?Used properly, YouTube can be a language-learning tool that goes beyond your cat’s wildest imaginations.I’ve just given you the six  most fertile sources of videos online. Next, we are going to talk about the different ways of watching these videos. Because there are different types of videos online, there are also different ways of watching them. That all depends on your purpose, which is  what we ’re going to talk about now.3  Different Strategies for  Watching Language Videos1. Watching for Pleasure (Taking in the Big Picture)This technique is usually done for foreign movies or series. The purpose here is not linguistic at all. It’s for entertainment. So it’s usually the method used when one initially approaches new material.Lets say  you’re watching a short clip, episode or film. You watch it first just like any normal movie-goer would. If the video has English subtitles, then you turn them  on so you can understand what’s going on.This approach familiarizes you with the plot of the movie, for example. It introduces you to the characters, the basic conflict and the different twists and complications to the story. You’re taking it all in. You’re not thinking about  vocabulary or grammar at this point. Now, don’t belittle this approach and think it “superficial.” If you’re gonna milk a video, clip or movie for all it’s worth, if you’re gonna understa nd the nuances in the language later on, you’re gonna have to do this to every video that comes your way. Watch it for pleasure; take it all in.Do this 3-4 times! ( You’ll thank me later.)You’ll never understand context  or  why they are using a certain type of vocabulary if you don’t get the big picture.2. Watching with Subtitles, Without Subtitles or Dubbed in Another LanguageThis is where you start to get linguistic in your efforts. Now that you understand  the big picture, watch the whole thing again, but this time with the purpose of learning. Watch it with the foreign subtitles. This is really going to  help you with vocabulary, spelling and grammar. As you read the subtitles, you’re remembering the dialogues and you’re remembering the English equivalents of words. This becomes easier because you have the benefit of context  to help you remember. (That’s why you need to watch the video over and over.)Then you’re gonna watch it without the subtitles. This time, you’ll be doing a lot of listening. You’ll train your ears to listen to the tone, cadence and pronunciation of the words. And because of your familiarity with the material, you’ll probably be predicting the words and dialogue. (If so, practice speaking them out loud!)Now, if by chance  the material is dubbed in English, then watch it. This way, you will be approaching the subject from  a different angle. And this will only strengthen your knowledge of the material.Doing these three things will allow you to really get all you can out of a video. A single clip, movie or episode can teach you a lot if you have the patience to let it.3. Watching with Intent (Pause and Play Method)Now this is the most productive part of watching a video. You’re not only milking it, you’re really gonna mine it for all it has.Watching with intent is when you don’t care about the big picture, you don’t care about the movie or the characters, plot or whatever is going on. You’re just watching it for the language gems you can mine. You do this scene by scene. And a single scene you do line by line. So in a sequence of dialogue, you pause the movie after a series of lines. Then you study the lines and mine it for every grammatical, vocabulary and context lesson it presents. (The cool thing is, the more you know about a language, the sharper your eyes and ears are for these things. But for the true beginner, you’re gonna have to be content with  what you can mine at the moment.)When you’re done with the last approach, you would have watched the whole thing close to 20 times. You’ll be so sick of it, youll wish it had never been made. You’ll consider it the worst tragedy in the history of learning. But guess what, who’s gotten better with the language because of it?Yup, you. And youll be miles ahead. Its all  worth it, so keep on going.  Happy watching!

Achieving Your Goals With Coaching and Tutoring Orphans

Achieving Your Goals With Coaching and Tutoring OrphansCoaching and tutoring orphans in different countries across the world is one of the most helpful ways for many reasons. There are lots of financial benefits, that would be enjoyed by everyone, by teaching the orphans.Teaching the orphans in an early childhood development program would empower them to have a well-rounded education. If they attend an international school, they would get more exposure to the language they speak and acquire other related skills and knowledge which could have benefits for their future as well. Many families have to worry about their children's living a normal life, without the presence of their mom or dad around. An international school is the best place to spend the summer for these children who have to spend their time attending school to gain education and other skills for themselves. Many kids enroll in a middle school or high school but it is better to send them to an international school where th ey will have the chance to interact with adults as well. Most of the schools offer successful development programs for orphans and also international students. By sending the child to the school, you are not only helping him develop skills but you are also boosting his confidence and self-esteem.The international school could be situated at a far place or near the place of your home. Even if it is a distant place, you can keep the child around you to build a relationship and friendship with the person teaching him. You can ask other parents who have enrolled their kids in the school for referrals. It is not necessary to ask the parents for the names of the parents because there is no harm in doing so. If you get referrals, it is easy to contact the family members and get in touch with them.A lot of parents think that sending their child to an international school is going to be too expensive. However, this is not true. This can be very helpful in educating your child in a particular l anguage.

Should I Take the GMAT or GRE

Should I Take the GMAT or GRE If youre applying to graduate school, youre probably thinking about taking an entrance exam as part of your application. For law school, its the LSAT. For medical school, its the MCAT. For other graduate programs, the choice may not be as straightforward, especially if youre applying to business school. This may lead you to ask, Should I Take the GMAT or GRE? Deciding if you should take the GMAT or GRE ultimately depends on a number of factors. In addition to the GMAT, most MBA programs now accept the GRE as well. So which exam should you select? Here are four areas to consider: 1. What are your GMAT and GRE strengths and weaknesses? Both the GRE and the GMAT contain sections that assess similar abilities in the following areas: Analytical Writing Verbal Quantitative However, they are different tests that work for different test-takers. For example, for students who arent fond of writing, the GMAT has only one essay, compared to the GRE, which has two essays. For students who are excel at vocabulary words, the Verbal Reasoning section of the GRE plays to that strength. Next, the Quantitative sections on both tests essentially call upon high school math skills, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. However, the Quantitative questions on the GRE might be seen as easier, especially since the GRE provides an on-screen calculator for those sections. The GMAT only provides an on-screen calculator for Integrated Reasoning, a section which may benefit students who are particularly skilled at analyzing and synthesizing different information. At the end of the day, there are tradeoffs for each exam when it comes to utilizing your strengths and weaknesses. [RELATED: GRE Tips for Test Day] 2. How do past test-taking experiences relate to what youll face on the GMAT and GRE? The GMAT is computer adaptive by question. You can only move forward in a section once you answer the question in front of youand you cant check your previous answers. So, if you can answer a question on an exam and move on to the next without further thought, you may be more comfortable with the structure of the GMAT. Conversely, the GRE is computer adaptive by section. Your performance on your first Verbal section determines the difficulty of your second Verbal section. Same goes for the Quantitative sections. However, when working within a section, you can skip questions in that section and check your answers in that section. Therefore, if you need time to review your answers and skip harder questions, the GRE may work better for your test-taking style. 3. Do the programs you are applying to accept the GMAT or GRE? Most business schools accept both the GMAT and GRE, and many schools view them with equal weight. Look at the GMAT and GRE score ranges of each school and see how you would fit in. Then, check with your schools to learn which test they prefer, and which test they prefer from you. For instance, applicants with mathematical backgrounds like engineering or computer analytics may not need to further prove they can handle the quantitative rigor of an MBA program by earning a high score on the GMATbut an applicant from a more creative background might be encouraged to display his or her mathematical ability through their GMAT performance. Admissions committees want to know that the students they accept will have the necessary skills to succeed in business school. 4. How could the GMAT or GRE affect the career you are pursuing? Some companies in industries like consulting and investment banking may ask for candidates GMAT scores during recruiting season. These companies are looking for MBA associates who can keep up with the analytical demands of their culture. So, before applying to business schools, do research on companies you want to work for after graduation, and find out their requirements. This research can also help inform your MBA applications as well as your career exploration while in your program. With all of this in mind, should you take the GMAT or the GRE? If all things are equal, go with the exam with which you simply feel more comfortable. Take GRE practice tests and GMAT practice tests to get a feel for themlook at your results, consider what your schools are looking for, think about how that score will fit into your application package, and determine whether you would like to move forward with the GMAT or GRE. Whichever test you select, prepare for it well in advance so you can perform your best on exam day!
